Oncology Massage

Specialized massage for people living with, in treatment for, or in remission from cancer.

Is cancer affecting your life?

Are you experiencing anxiety or depression from dealing with a recent diagnosis? Have you undergone treatments that have left you fatigued and in pain? Have you beaten cancer, but your body still has some lingering effects?

A therapist trained in Oncology Massage can safely work with people who have survived cancer, are in recovery, active treament, or nearing the end of life.

Oncology Massage training comprises many topics

  • Understanding cancer.
  • Side effects of treatment- chemotherapy, radiation, medications, and surgery.
  • Tumors and metastasis.
  • Lymph node involvement.
  • Complications from the cancer or cancer treatment.
  • End of life concerns.
  • and more….

Cancer comes in many forms and affects each person differently, but for many,  massage can help make life a little better.

Oncology Massage Process

Since each person has different needs pertaining to their care, your massage therapist will spend a good deal of time prior to the first session discussing your individual case. Your therapist will need to know details about your diagnosis, progression of the disease, treatment, medications, side-effects, and health history. They will also ask about your goals for massage. That way your therapist can tailor your session for your specific needs.

In some cases, a full massage may not be possible. Your therapist will work with you to find the right length of massage to aid healing without creating fatigue. They may also blend in gentle energy work to support well-being.
