James Arbuckle is a versatile therapist with almost 25 years experience in the field and therefore has worked with a broad variety of clients and their goals. In particular, James enjoys helping modern professionals who spend too much time at their work stations. He’s great at making a therapeutic massage feel relaxing. As a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, he also specializes in Lymphatic Massage and has the training to work with complex needs including post-op, post-cancer, and lymphedema care.
With massage he tends towards a moderate pressure and pacing that is rhythmic and thorough. His sessions blend many styles together including Lymphatic Massage, Swedish, Trigger Point, NMT, Stretching, Myofascial, and Joint Mobilization. He also has special training in Thai Massage and Reflexology.
One of his philosiphies of massage is “less pain more gain.” He pulls from many techniques that allow him to achieve a deep tissue massage without the work feeling aggressive.

James loves to get out and play. Whether a board game or a sporting match he enjoys a little friendly competition. He enjoys reading up on (and acting on) healthy-aging releated topics… nutrition, exercise, and the like. And he is an Anglophile who likes to dust off a tome on British history.
I have been getting massages for a number of years and I am very particular in choosing a massage therapist. I can honestly say that James is the best I’ve found. I generally get a 60 or 90 minute whole body massage and James has the perfect technique. He always seems to know exactly the right pressure and ensures that I have a thorough massage every time. I leave feeling completely relaxed! As long as James is performing massage, I will not go anywhere else.
With James I never get the same massage twice. He is always learning and applying new techniques. It is wonderful as a client, but also speaks to his genuine interest in massage therapy and health. James is also a lovely person to talk to but is not offended if I need a chat-free session. I highly recommend him.
A peer recommended that I book a session with James when I was dealing with a foot injury, and after one session with him my pain levels had significantly decreased. He was able to help me so much and decreased my pain levels more than I ever though was possible with massage therapy. I feel so fortunate that I was sent his way as he is very experienced, professional, and always manages to perfectly comply to my requests during every session. He is also great about remembering client’s preferences and never went a session without taking time to talk about my needs both before and after every session.
